Time Saving Tips For Baby Announcements

Let’s be honest… In the joyful,  yet sleepless, weeks after the birth of your baby, who really has time to think about choosing  baby announcements? We understand!  We put together a few insider tips to getting those baby announcements out in the mail so that you can focus your time on more important things – like kissing those baby toes… or showering.

Baby announcements

Custom Baby Announcements!

Pre-Select your Birth Announcement  Whether shopping online or working with your local stationery store, pre-select a birth announcement before the baby’s arrival.  Searching through numerous baby announcements after the baby’s arrival will mean less time staring at your beautiful newborn.  Even narrowing down your choices to 2 or 3 is a big post-baby time saver! If you’ve decided to keep the baby’s gender a surprise, you can choose a baby announcement that is available in pink or blue.

Baby Boy Birth Announcements

Pre-Ship your Envelopes At Page, we offer the option to pre-ship your envelopes to give you a super time saver for after the baby is born.  You can stamp and address those envelopes so they are ready to go. Once your birth announcements arrive, it’s as simple as a walk to the mailbox.

If you’ve decided to go with our baby announcements, don’t forget to keep your focus!

Focus on the baby. Friends and family can see his room, his crib and his favorite snuggle toy on Facebook.  The birth announcement photo should focus on that sweet face and those kissable cheeks.

Photo Baby Announcements

Focus on that sweet face!

Focus on quality. Camera phones and smart phone photo-editing apps are great!  But, not always for high-resolution printing. If you aren’t using a professional photographer, grab your real camera – remember those?  Or ask a friend who is camera savvy to help you get a great pic.  The quality will make a difference that you’ll be happy with.

Have any new parent time saving tips of your own? We’d love to hear them in the comments!

Don’t Settle For Generic Baby Birth Announcements

With the birth of our first child in our minds my husband and I decided that we would design our own girl birth announcements. We wanted all of our baby stationery to be finished and ready, except for the final birth details and picture of her (for the baby photo announcement) two months before our little daughter arrived. We didn’t want just any old baby girl birth announcement from the local card store. We wanted to make this whole occasion in our lives special, from the baby shower announcements to the final thank you cards after she was born.

My philosophy in life is, “Squeeze out every drop!”. I don’t like to rush through things because I want every drop of preciousness that the memories will hold for me for a lifetime. My husband was just as excited as I was about our wonderful tiny gift; the little girl that would forever change our lives. We talked a lot about how we wanted the birth to happen. We also planned out how we could include all of our families in the baby shower, our baby stationery and the baby birth announcements.

We have wonderful parents and we wanted them to feel how special they are to us. We also have one sibling each and a sweet little niece that we couldn’t love more. It may sound corny but we decided to have a family get together to show them the designs we were thinking about for all of our baby stationery. We wanted to get their input. We even wanted our four year old niece to be able to share her ideas about our baby photo birth announcements. After all, she and our daughter were going to be like sisters.

We wanted this baby birth announcements design party to be a fun and memorable occasion; a bonding time for all of us and the new member of our family, arriving soon. We decorated the house up like it was a birthday party; it was really a pre-birthday party. Since it was summertime the guys decided they would let the women relax and they would do the cooking. After we were all properly fed we got out our laptops and shared ideas back and forth about what we thought would be the perfect baby shower invitations  and birth announcements.

There was a lot of bantering, joking and laughter shared amongst us all. We also shared happy stories from times gone by. Finally, we came up with the perfect baby girl birth announcement and baby stationery for the thank you cards. The time had flown by and it was  time for every one to go to their homes. As we closed the door we stood their hugging and soaking in the love of what we had created  that night. This was time we would all remember fondly. There are many facets to precious events in our lives and it would have been the same if we were preparing birth announcements for boys or a little girl. For us, having this  bonding, baby birth announcements celebration, just for our family was almost as special as the day we all gathered to welcome our new baby girl into this world on her birthday.

Rachel Zoe Another Line Of Lipsticks!

Another line of lipsticks! Apparently Rachel Zoe has helped launch a new line of lipsticks called Exude Lipsticks which seems really appealing given that she has a gorgeous look and luscious lips to contribute to the success of the new launch. I do wish her continued success and by the way, what baby announcements did she use?

I only wish more celebrities would focus on some other types of products to get involved with instead of the same old perfumes and fragrances, lipsticks and other cosmetics. I have to hand it to Bethany for the Skinny Girl line great idea and nice planning to get it up and out and then sell! I think that is where most business owners go wrong, they don’t know when to sell.

It would be nice though to see a nice line of birth announcements cards like these or even a set of well designed letterpress wedding invitations from you favorite celebrity that would be affordable and still get some great design. I don’t think Vera Wang pulled it off with her new line. Maybe some will consider it in the future.

Write A Notecard With Page Stationery

Just the other day we had a family get together with some cousins who were back in town and we haven’t seen them in a few years. I also measure time by the number of kids they have had since our last visit. So we all got together on a Sunday afternoon for a luncheon at my cousins house. We jammed all the kids in the car, a Mercedes wagon, which is entirely too small, but that is a post in itself, gave the dog a few scoops of food and headed do to meet everyone. It was about 10 am and I was really looking forward to that bloody mary at around 12 especially after an hour in the car! I realized I had forgotten to get gas, so we had to make that extra stop and then traveled on from there.

We had a great lunch and were able to catch up on everything and job situations and even tell a few old stories and have some laughs. So two hours later we pack the car again and head back home, quietly, hoping that baby number two will nap for the hour ride. The next day at the office it popped in my head a few times that I should write a thank you note to our host. After all she was nice enough to let us use her house and eat her wonderful food. So I pondered what to say over the next few hours while I worked. I then sat down and picked up some notecards out of my desk and wrote a simple thank you card. What I needed to say only took a few sentences but it would mean a lot to my cousin Cary and all the work she had invested in the day. It also meant something to me, it may me feel good inside when I wrote it. So I knew I was doing the right thing.

I also like writing on my decidedly different stationery I had made exclusively for me by a company named Page Stationery. Not only does Page have custom stationery they have many types of amazing stationery products and are very affordable. If you haven’t heard, they are offering digitally printed cards now at a much lower price point in addition to their premier line of letterpress wedding invitations and stationery. Digital photo cards for holidays, baby shower invitations, birth announcements and save the date cards are just a few of the new digital products they are creating. Their quality is second to none and customer service for them is the most important part of their business. They still can work with you one on one or, if you like or you can get your job done fast with their 3-5 day turn around. Their work has been used by celebrities and featured in many publications and websites like realsimple and Martha Stewart. Using Page Stationery this year will make ordering your holiday photo cards, Christmas cards, New Years cards a piece of cake. Don’t forget they can easily customized with a photo! Also, the personal stationery like I use. There are so many ways to utilize this and it makes such an impact. They even have thank you baby cards for baby stationery in those early years when you need to a note for a birthday or shower present.

Birth Announcements On A Comeback

I don’t know if most people are aware of this but according to Google trends birth announcements have been on a steady decline since 2004. Now this probably for a couple of reasons that come to my attention immediately. The onset of the digital revolution and social media has probably squashed use of announcements as well as a really bad economy. so in all its been bad for baby announcements and probably stationery stores and printers in general.

The good news is all it takes is the release of something really spectacular and the market may respond positively. Here is an example. These are some very affordable save the date cards. I think they run about $1.45 depending on the quality. But here is the kicker, they are duplex printed so you get a great design on the front and on the back!

And look at these birth announcements these are on the cutting edge and also are printed on the front and back.

Using Fonts For Letterpress Printing Of Wedding Invitations

Letterpress Wedding Invitations Type Selection

There are literally hundreds of letterpress type faces, or fonts, available to our customers for use on letterpress wedding invitations, letterpress birth announcements and other printed matter. What on earth are we to do?

Some fonts have “feet”, or serifs. Others have no “feet”, or sans serif. Each conveys a different feeling or look. Some fonts are bold, and they shout at the reader, and that is fine because they were designed that way. Others are very fine and delicate and quiet and dignified and subtle…they speak softly and encourage calm and respect. So again, what are we to do?

Enter Page Stationery’s designers who have had years of training that help them understand their customers and the effects the customers wish to project to the recipient of the printed piece. This is truly not an easy task, for the designer must access the objective of the letterpress invitation and letterpress announcement, consider the choices and desires of the customer and choose the one, of hundred of fonts, that best conveys the intents of the customer’s custom letterpress wedding invitations.

While our clients may never be exposed to the tremendous variety of fonts they can be assured that the best possible choice has been made and made in the best interest of the customer.
